LaPiS 004 – Summer Drinks July 6, 2008

Unlike in the Philippines where tropical fruits are abundant, the very arid environment here in Saudi Arabia does not make this a perfect place to locally grow fruits. As far as I know, the only thing that is naturally produced here are Dates, which unfortunately does not taste well if in liquid form. Because of this, most of the fruits sold here have to be imported from abroad from countries such as ours.
Despite this, the Arabs love to drink fresh fruit shakes. One popular drink that is served in most restaurants here is this cocktail drink, which is a mixtue of strawberry, guava and mango. I agree that the mixture does not sound great but tasting it is another story. The combination of these three fruits is actually quite good and refreshing. So the next time you think of a summer thirst quencher, you might want to make one of this.

Hmmm… I agree it doesn’t sound good, but the look is very inviting!

The guava makes me want to do a double-take on this one though…
i can’t imagine kung anong fruit juices ang iniinom ng mga arabo before importing became easy. dapat marami silang summer fruits kasi parang its always summer there, hehe.
interesting yung combination, esp with the guava ha. pero parang naniniwala ako kay pinky that i might need to do a double-take, hehe.
